Danielle was born and raised in Newfoundland and Labrador and currently resides in the same province in the town of Grand Falls-Windsor. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Kinesiology, a Master Degree in Physical Education as well as a Bachelor of Primary / Elementary Education; all of which she completed at Memorial University of Newfoundland. She is currently a Physical Education Teacher at Woodland Primary. Danielle is also an Educator Ambassador with the Jays Care Foundation and in 2023-2024 she initiated two Jays Care Programs in her school; Rookie League and Girls At Bat. All athletes involved in these programs also attended a Jays Care All Star Series Event that welcomed over 100 athletes from various schools. Outside of her profession as a teacher, Danielle is also a small business owner. Her small business, Central Athletics, offers sports related programming to children of all ages with the focus of the business being to foster the love of sports in an inclusive, safe and caring environment. When Danielle is not teaching, she is either coaching with her business, coaching as a volunteer or a teacher sponsor for various sports teams from primary to high school ages. However, you will most easily find Danielle spending time with her husband and children. They enjoy participating in various sports together as well as hiking and walking their dog. Danielle has now been a teacher for fourteen years. In that time she has taught Physical Education to all grades and has diverse classroom experience as well. In her career thus far, Danielle has initiated many community partnerships for her school. One of her most memorable community partnerships is the ongoing connection with Kingsway Living (a retirement home). The students of Woodland Primary engage in various activities with the residents and the connection has allowed the students to grow as global citizens; teaching them empathy, compassion and kindness. Danielle was also an essential component of the development of their schools outdoor classroom, where children now play and learn outside all year long. She is often involved with various programs within the Town of Grand Falls-Windsor, especially the local Youth 2000 Community Center. This past year Danielle was honored to be nominated for citizen of the year within her town.
