What is a Hex Bar?
They’re designed to keep weight centered through the body’s midline during deadlifts, shrugs, and other pulls from the floor. The change in position allows the user to maintain a more upright posture during heavy pulls, reducing strain on the low back and allowing for enhanced recruitment of the quadriceps. These bars can also allow athletes to deadlift more weight as they no longer have to navigate a barbell around the knees which creates a longer moment arm, and reduces leverage during the lift. Overall, the hex bar makes a great addition to the program of any athlete, particularly beginners, those with longer limbs, or users with preexisting lower back issues.
