Circuit workouts are a great way to maximize activity time in PE and train a variety of muscles. The Tabata “Move it Forward” circuit (20 seconds on, 10 second rest) has students working on their cardio as well as strengthening the core, lower body and upper body.
Description of the Circuit:
Toe Touches: Starting at the way back, students use the STEPerfect Fitness Steps and alternate toe touches.
Feet Together In and Outs: This circuit is a great core exercise. Students keep their feet together and move them to each side of the cone without letting them touch the ground.
Mountain Climbers: Mountain Climbers is a great cardio workout!
Med Ball Slams: Students lift the medicine ball above their head and slam it onto the ground. Repeat for 20 seconds!
2 Cone Shuffle: Students shuffle back and forth between two cones until the music stops!
In and Outs: This simple agility drill is a great way to work on quickness and footwork. Students jump in and out of the small ring as fast as they can.
Box Jumps: Jump up on the fitness box and land in a squat position. Repeat until the music stops.
Jogging: Once students finish with box jumps, they’ll run around the gym for the next station and start back at toe touches to repeat the circuit.

Spotify Playlist: If you have the luxury of using Spotify in PE, there are many great Tabata Playlists.
Create your own: Use the Tabata Timer and HIIT Timer app to use your own music to create a tabata workout!
