[0:02] On today’s PE Express podcast, I’m going to share with you the song that’s ruining rock, paper, scissor games in PE.
[0:29] The biggest struggle before with rock paper scissor games played during PE was, do you shoot on three or do you shoot on four? This dilemma seems to be a hot topic every time you get a group of PE teachers together, so let me set the record straight. Everyone needs to know the correct answer is you shoot on four. Four. Rock, paper, scissor, shoot. That’s four.
[0:53] Lately, the struggle for me has been this playground song that’s made its way into our gymnasium. Ain’t nobody got time for that. I want action! I want movement! I want you taking as many turns as possible because that means you’re moving. We don’t have time to be singing a silly song during PE. I’m not sure where it came from or who it started with, but no thank you.
[1:18] Has anyone run into this song during their PE classes? Do you even know what I’m talking about? Well let me enlighten you and hope that this song never makes it into your gym.
[1:30] “Rock, paper, scissors, shoot show me what you got. I’ve got this and you’ve got that.”
[1:40] Well, there you go. I hope this song never makes it into your gym. Their sweet little kindergarten voices were cute though. It has taken over our recess and in my opinion it should stay there. Let’s just shoot on four kids. Four.

This article caught my eye ! I teach at the Tennessee School for the Deaf and when I saw those handshapes: S, 5, V I was wondering what song is she talking about? Once I read your article I got it – the symbols for rock, paper, scissors. I agree, play that at home or at recess, I have too many skills to teach to take time for a playground rhyme.
